Nature – the unparalleled divine creation - and within it, humans are the epitome of creative excellence. In Indian culture, nature is perceived as the form of the divine and is revered. One form of nature is the tangible manifestation of the living world and its beauty knows no bounds. Through the medium of canvas and colours, understanding the animate and inanimate world and imagining and interpreting it is a continuous endeavour of artists.
Describing a subject or object through colours is a multidimensional process imbued with the idea of ‘self’. Life experiences of an artist bestow the capability and inspiration to articulate any subject and describe it. After receiving instruction in art and painting in my childhood, I refined my craft of painting through self-study and going deep in the creation of the masters. The paintings of eminent painters provided to me immense learning and, combined with my observations of the natural landscapes and their features that were always around, inspired me to put colours and brush to paper. The unmatched beauty of natural landscapes and rugged features of its elements have influenced my efforts at painting. For me, the pursuit of art doesn't have a definite destination. Rather, I thoroughly enjoy my painting journey. The creation of something new and unique is my reward.
Varied observations during my travels have inspired many of the watercolour paintings showcased in this exhibition. Images, that have been etched in my memory, have been captured in the watercolour paintings in the “Journey in Watercolours”. Hope you will enjoy the creations in the same measure as I have relished the journey
