I was drawn towards drawing and painting from my childhood and was attracted towards the rich and varied colours and forms of flora and fauna and the diversity of nature. My interest in arts was further nurtured in the years of my youth when I practiced oil painting, though sporadically, during my years at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. Observing the work of masters, particularly the Impressionists, opened to me a new vista of paintings where use of colours to depict light and shadows was made effectively. My interest in nature and environment encouraged me to depict and interpret them through the use of colours.
During the Covid Pandemic, after imposition of Lockdown, I felt encouraged to try my hand at watercolours. Numerous instructional videos on the internet and YouTube taught me nuances of watercolours painting, which I have tried to imbibe and, in the process, enjoyed painting in watercolours in the last 4 years. My paintings follow realism and interpret moods of nature and its elements through different tones, hues and values.
