I was drawn towards the works of great landscape painters of India and abroad. In particular, the works of Impressionist masters like Monet, Pissaro, Cezanne and Renoir and landscapists Sargent, Turner and Constable captivated me. Among Indian artists the works of Nandlal Bose, Ram Kumar and Binode Behari Mukherjee impressed me. Having worked in the field of archaeology and ancient monuments, the watercolour art of Thomas Daniell and his nephew William Daniell caught my imagination, who through depiction of fine details have brought the ancient monuments of India to life.
With such motivation I started painting nature, monuments and landscapes in watercolours from the year 2020. At the insistence of friends, I held my first exhibition of my paintings in India International Centre, New Delhi during January-February 2024. The positive response to the show has provided me further encouragement to continue painting and try to refine my craft. The motivation and encouragement received from my family, particularly from my mother and wife, has played a significant role in sustaining my interest. I find joy in painting and continue to learn. Hope you find my works interesting and derive joy from viewing them.
